    JNTUH B.Tech R16 Academic Regulations and  Promotion Rules with effect from 2016-17

    JNTUH B.Tech R16 Promotion Rules –Required Credits for Promotion in Next Year – Below we have provided the details related to the promotion of JNTUH R16 regulation students.

    -JNTU Hyderabad offers a 4-year (8 semesters) Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree program at its non-autonomous constituent and affiliated colleges with effect from the academic year 2016-17.

    -A student who is studying undergraduate program has a minimum of 4 years ( 8 Semesters ) and a maximum of 8 years ( 16 semesters ). Each Semester has 24 credits summing to a total of 192 credits ( CGPA ≥ 5 ) to complete his graduation and a degree.

    JNTU Hyderabad Attendance Requirements to appear for Examinations:

    -A student shall be eligible to appear for the semester-end examinations if the student acquires a minimum of 75% of attendance in aggregate of all the subjects/courses for that semester.

    -The attendance requirements of B. Tech. (Regular) shall be applicable to B.Tech. (LES).

    JNTUH B.Tech R16 Regulation Promotion Rules for Regular Students

    - A student to get promoted from 1st year to 2nd year needs a minimum of 24 Credits out of 48 total credits i.e., 50% credits up to first-year second semester from all the relevant regular and supplementary examinations, whether the student takes those examinations or not.

    -Similarly, a student to get promoted from 2nd  year to 3rd  year needs at least  58 Credits out of 96 total credits i.e., 60% credits up to second-year second semester from all the relevant regular and supplementary examinations, whether the student takes those examinations or not. Upon failing to secure those credits students shall be detained as per JNTU Hyderabad R16 Promotion Rules.

    - A student to get promoted from 3rd year to 4th year needs a minimum of 86 Credits out of 144 total credits i.e., 60% credits up to third-year second semester from all the relevant regular and supplementary examinations, whether the student takes those examinations or not. Upon failing to secure those credits students shall be detained as per JNTU Hyderabad R16 Promotion Rules.

    JNTU Hyderabad B.Tech R16 Exemption Rules:

    -A student shall register for all subjects covering 192 credits as specified and listed in the course structure, fulfills all the attendance and academic requirements for 192 credits, CGPA ≥ 5.0 (in each semester), and CGPA (at the end of each successive semester)earn all 192 credits by securing CGPA ≥ 5.0, to successfully complete the undergraduate program.

    -After securing the necessary 192 credits as specified for the successful completion of the entire undergraduate program, the student can avail exemption of two subjects up to 6 credits, that is, one open elective and one professional elective subject or two professional elective subjects for optional drop out from these 192 credits earned; resulting in 186 credits for undergraduate program performance evaluation, i.e., the performance of the student in these 186 credits shall alone be taken into account for the calculation of ‘the final CGPA (at the end of the undergraduate program, which takes the SGPA of the IV year II semester into account), and shall be indicated in the grade card of IV year II semester. However, the performance of students in the earlier individual semesters, with the corresponding SGPA and CGPA for which grade cards have already been given will not be altered.
